Here's the next post.
Let me know what you think.
That day Ellouise spent the majority of her time in the green drawing room. Here she received plenty of visitors, some that she knew, and most that she didn’t. People came to listen to her story and her experience, also wishing her a speedy recovery. Professor Dumbledore and Professor Snape had been among the first to visit her that morning. They both seemed to be relieved that she was recovering. Professor Dumbledore also brought with him a small crystal vial of clear liquid, it was remarkably small, it looked as though it only held three or four drops. “Phoenix tears”, he whispered in her ear. Ellouise smiled and thanked him. She couldn’t help but think that he needed them more than her, Dumbledore’s right hand appeared to be shrivelled and black, a faint mark on one of his fingers suggested he had been wearing a ring at the time of whatever incident took place. It looked like nasty business. Dumbledore noticing her gaze smiled and simply said, “Even I have a lot to learn about magic.”
After they had left she went upstairs and had a relaxing shower. Her wound was healing quite well now, so the ointment had served its purpose. Ellouise pulled the stopper out of the miniscule vial and released a single drop of the phoenix tears onto what was left of her wound. Immediately it began to clear up, then she emptied the rest of the vial onto her wound. It was amazing. Ellouise felt her skin, it was soft and smooth. Best of all there was no more pain, it was as if nothing had happened. She smiled to herself and changed into fresh clothes. Ellouise pulled on a pair of skinny leg black jeans, followed by her trademark knee high black boots. She then pulled on a tight long sleeve, scoop neck, grey cotton shirt over her beige singlet.
Ellouise left the bathroom, but immediately wishing she hadn’t. Three whizzing firecrackers went flying by, missing her by an inch, they twisted and turned until they eventually exploded into showers of red and gold.
“Did you like our crackers?” asked Fred... or was it George? Ellouise couldn’t tell. Both of the Weasley twins were well-humoured but also troublesome, and inexplicably identical. There were times when Ellouise was sure even they couldn’t tell each other apart.
“Yeah, they were great, just try not to blow anyone’s face off with them will you”, she replied as she skipped down the stairs, a huge grin on her face.
“You look well”, came a deep voice. Ellouise turned and looked up at the flight of stairs above her, Charlie was peering over the edge, his arms casually crossed in front of him.
“Why thank you, I do feel much better”, replied Ellouise, “You coming down for lunch?” she asked.
Charlie began to descend the stairs, “Absolutely”, he said, “How could I miss it?” he asked in return. Ellouise just shrugged and led the way to the kitchen as Charlie and the twins brought up the rear. Harry, Ron and Ginny were sitting in the drawing room by the fire playing a game of exploding snap, Ginny appeared to be winning. The kitchen was emptier than usual, Carlisle and Anton sat at one end of the kitchen table and Xavier sat at the other. Things still hadn’t settled between Xavier and Anton, and though Anton wasn’t exiled or punished by any physical means he certainly was ignored and berated by most of the Order members, Ellouise couldn’t help feel a little sorry for him. Xavier looked up and smiled as she approached, followed by the Weasley’s. Quickly he folded the letter he was holding and stuffed it into his jacket pocket. “You look a lot better”, he said as he pat the bench next to him. Ellouise sat beside him, the Weasley’s sat on the opposite side of them.
“I feel a lot better”, she replied, nudging him playfully in the ribs. Xavier nudged back and immediately started apologising for hurting her. Ellouise just laughed, “You didn’t hurt me Xav. I really am better. Look,” she said as she lifted up the side of her shirt. Xavier looked slightly confused, “But how?” he asked.
“Dumbledore gave me something for it. Cleared it up straight away”, she said as she summoned the house elf Kreacher. The house elf that appeared before them was old, and frail looking. Many folds of skin hung from his body as if it had belonged to somebody else and didn’t fit him properly. White hairs sprouted from his ears and his long crooked nose.
“Yes Miss Browne?” he asked obediently though he muttered something rude under his breath.
“Manners Kreacher,” reminded Xavier. The house elf nodded.
“Lunch please Kreacher, Im in a mood for French”, said Ellouise.
“I’ll have the same”, added Xavier.
“So will we”, piped up Charlie.
“Yes Master Black sir”, said Kreacher bowing deeply toward his owner. He bowed in Ellouise’s direction also but muttered under his breath in the direction of the Weasley’s, Ellouise could only just make out the word blood traitor.
After a delicious lunch of wild mushroom and chicken voul au vents the Weasley twins headed for the green drawing room, Charlie went over and talked to Carlisle and Anton which left Xavier and Ellouise alone.
“So, whose the letter from?” she asked casually. Xavier pulled out the not slightly crumpled letter and thrust it in her direction.
“Uncle Regulus”, he said.
Ellouise opened the letter, it was short: Xavier,
It’s been a while since I’ve heard from you. I hope all is well at the HQ. I am on a mission with Dumbledore, it’s incredibly dangerous, but it will all be worth it in the end. I’m sorry I can’t say much more. Just know this, if I die before I see you again, know that I love you. And take care of your father for me, though he doesn’t want to admit it, he needs to be looked after.
Your loving Uncle,
Regulus.
Ellouise put an arm around Xavier’s shoulder, “I’m sure he’ll be ok, probably just being cautious.”
